Solace in Alpenglow

Anna Grace Keller ‘25 and Persie Baroody ‘25

Block break can so often be rushed, stressful, and tiring. This trip, yes, was thrown together last minute, but was one of the most relaxing block break trips we’ve each been on yet. The two of us hiked together, yet we were also able to hike in silence, lost in our own thoughts. The backcountry gave us both what we needed after long blocks; solace, connection, peace, and revitalization.

We enjoyed a trip full of high mountain passes, alpine lakes, golden aspen groves, and wide vistas that displayed the Elk Range in all of its glory. Alpenglow on west faces in the early mornings and on east faces in the evenings reminded us of our love for the mountains, especially those here in Colorado.

All images were taken on the land of the Ute Peoples.
