More Than Potatoes

Matt Silverman ‘23

Have you ever looked at a map, pointed at a place, and said “I want to go there”? This road trip is a product of that. While thinking of places to go during a ten-day break between school and the start of work, I was drawn to Idaho. I had heard stories of the wild mountains of the Gem State but had spent very little time there myself. I looked at a map and saw a huge lake in the middle of the Sawtooth Mountains, I googled it, and was astounded. The images were breathtaking, and less than a week later I was driving northbound to see the grandeur for myself. In addition to our stop in Idaho, we spent 2 days in Jackson Hole and finished the trip off in the crown jewel of the continent, Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. We were earlier in the season than most for Glacier and missed out on some aspects of the park but were able to experience a side of the area that many miss. Please enjoy this collection of pictures highlighting this once-in-a-lifetime trip through this beautiful part of our country.

All images were taken on the land of the Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis, Shoshone Bannock, and Eastern Shoshone Peoples.
