Artist Spotlight

“Home and away. What makes a place familiar? Is it the people? Is it material objects? Is it a landscape that feels like home? Is it a culmination of these things? This body of work was created with these in mind. Notes on Time, On Time, and On the Shoulders of Giants are screen-prints that were created using a combination of my own film photographs and old film photographs taken by my dad during his time as a NOLS instructor in Alaska. These pieces marry not only the different visual mountains, but his experiences with mine. The cyanotypes, Atmosphere and Memory, were taken at my home mountain and feel familiar, but the haziness of the material gives an atmospheric and dreamlike quality to the pieces. Simultaneously home and away.”
