Southeast Asia on Film

Isabel Bragg ‘26

I’ve been working in the darkroom since high school, and have been lucky enough to have access to one here at CC. I mostly shoot 35mm black and white film, making silver prints in the darkroom, but I have recently been exploring some alternative processes. For the most part, I shoot on a Pentax ME Super, but I sometimes use a Canon EOS Elan 7 for flash photography.

My film rotation is typically Ilford HP5 Plus for B&W film, and Kodak Gold or Fujifilm for color.

Last month, I got the chance to spend some time in Southeast Asia, traveling from Thailand to Laos, to Cambodia, and finally to Vietnam. I brought my Pentax ME Super and a whole bunch of rolls, so I came out of the trip with hundreds of photos to look back on. I’ve been slowly working through the B&W film in the darkroom and have a few images to share here.

All images were shot on Ilford HP5 Plus.
